Understanding Call Blocking on iPhone
The iPhone comes equipped with a feature that allows you to block calls and messages from specific numbers. This can be a useful tool to prevent unwanted calls and messages from telemarketers, spammers, or people you don’t want to communicate with.
When you block a number on iPhone, you will not receive any calls, messages, or FaceTime requests from that particular number. The blocked number will not be able to leave voicemails, and you won’t receive notifications for any missed calls or messages from that number.
It’s important to note that blocking a number on iPhone does not prevent the blocked person from calling or messaging you through other means, such as a different phone number or messaging app. Additionally, blocking a number will not prevent you from seeing any messages or calls that were received before the number was blocked.
Steps to Unblock a Number on iPhone
If you’ve previously blocked a number on your iPhone but have now decided to unblock it, you can easily do so by following these steps:
- Open the Phone app on your iPhone.
- Tap on the “Recents” tab to view your recent calls.
- Find the number you want to unblock and tap the “i” icon next to it.
- Scroll down and tap on “Unblock this Caller.”

Once you’ve unblocked the number, you will be able to receive calls and messages from that number again. If the number was previously blocked from sending you text messages, you will also need to unblock them from the Messages app by following similar steps.

- Be cautious when giving out your phone number online or to strangers.
- Use a call-blocking app that can automatically block known spam numbers.
- Avoid answering calls from unknown numbers or numbers you don’t recognize.
- Use the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature on iPhone to automatically send calls from unknown numbers to voicemail.
